Blackpowder Barnacles

the iconic creature of the Blackpowder Coast, responsible for creating and spreading the blackpowder infusion that enables the entire ecosystem.
physically, they resemble normal barnacles, though many are much larger, ranging between 1 inch and 3 feet in diameter. When disturbed, or as part of their mating bloom, they can detonate with the force of a small bomb. These can trigger waves of entire beds to chain-react, proving deadly to those caught within.
The inhabitants of the blackpowder coast cultivate beds of barnacles to harvest for blackpowder - a very danderous job - though the scale of cultivation has never reached a fraction of the extent during the first Cartel.
