Pacellum Government

Pacellum is a monarchy with a single king. The ruling line is the von Truass family who are decedents of the Red King, the first king of Pacellum. There is a single ruler, the king or a queen. Moira was the twenty-forth ruler of Pacellum who ascended the throne when her father passed away. Moira married the Earl of Felroth, Marcus von Crow, who took her last name to keep the von Trauss name alive a custom since the first king. The two had two children. First, Moira had a boy, Declan von Trauss, who was became the heir apparent of the throne at birth. Fourteen years after, Moira gives birth to a girl with bright red hair, extremely rare in Pacellum. The girl was named Audetter von Truass. At eighteen Declan is killed and Audette, being the only living heir to the throne becomes the heir apparent once Moira dies. When Declan dies, Moira grows ill and Marcus becomes the King regent until she is healed, but when she dies when Audette is ten, Marcus agrees to stay on the throne until Audette is twenty-one. Arthur von Crow, being Audette’s only cousin, could ascend the throne because he is related to her if she declines the throne when she turns sixteen. His father, Lawrence von Crow, the Duke of Likari, cannot ascend the throne because he, by law, is too old and not of the propor generation to ascend, but his son is. (If Arthur were to be crown as king, or Audette were to die before giving birth to an heir, the land would die. The kingdom’s life is directly tied to the von Trauss blood line. If the von Truass line dies, so does the kingdom.) Pacellum is a monarchy with one king and, presently, one princess who is not yet old enough to claim any royal dudies. Below the king are five Dukes, each Duke rules over a fifth of the kingdom and contols the simplier affairs in that area. The Dukes are confined to live in the areas largest city or the castle. They are allowed to travel, but they are given the title at birth and cannot decline without an heir willing to take the position before their death. The five Dukes consult the king in decisions and have partial power of the kingdom, but not as much as the king. They are the ones who decided to keep Marcus and the King regent until Audette is twenty-one. In each area there are several Marquess and Earls who report to the Duke of the area, but do consult with the king in major issues of their small areas. Viscounts stand below an Earl and charge the military and control no land, they most reside in the castle or large cities. The last title with power are Barons, which is the only title that is gained by magical power. They are adapt magicians in their area and are rewarded by power to consult the high powers on course of action when magic is involved. Outside titles, their is a branch in the monarchy that is run by the guilds in the land which are allowed by the ruler who help keep the government honest with the king. Inside the guilds, the top five guilds -the ones who gain the most influence in the land- leaders become the guild masters who handle guild affairs. The only guild that does not have to go through the guild masters are the Sin, who is a guild built to protect the crown from the shadows and preform missions for the crown. The Sin answer directly to the crown and are only known by the crown what their actually guild is for. Outside the castle, the Sin is a terrifying guild who take difficult assignments for anyone worth paying the fee. Commoners can join guilds to have a say in the government, but other than that, commoners are kept out of government. This causes a tight circle in the castle and corruption is easier because the people of the land are rarely told what they are doing. This leads to the Duke of Glatkori using his power for trafficing, and other Earls and Viscounts using their power for terrible thing for gain, which hurts the common people, and because the Crown gains most of his information from the Dukes, he thing the common people are better off then they are. The Guild Masters are also bought off by the nobles, so the government becomes corrupted without the crown ever noticing.
