Ovo

Created by

This is the world of Ovo, a planet surrounded by two suns - Oxo, the larger of the two, and yellow; and Ono, the smaller, blue sun - and a moon, named Owo. The suns dictate the seasons, and the moon, the days. Once a year there is a day of complete darkness, where no suns can be seen for the entire day, and a day of complete sunlight.   This is a world with few resources. About a hundred years ago, a great calamity wiped the world of them, and now there’s scarcity worldwide, especially of rare materials like certain ores. The only place that has amazing resources are the Wilds, an small continent that is also known as Dalmadonu; though, with its abundance of resources comes an abundance of threats, and this place is chock full of dangers including the Fey, and possibly dragons, too.   The Human Kingdom originated in the East continent, in the once-prosperous country of Seolfmond. After explorers came with news of a bigger continent, most of the nobility moved to claim this new land - now named Gilsunne -, leaving Seolfmond a lesser country. This resulted in war, and a disconnection of the two countries.   However, after prophecies started making the rounds of the great calamity that was soon to be, the Kings of both countries decided to join forces and become a single country again by arranging a marriage: the only daughter of the King of Gilsunne, to the Prince of Seolfmond. This arrangement proved to be a success, for a while: the two were in love, and even had children, too, until the two of them came across secret necromantic tomes hidden in the castle. With this knowledge, they turned their citizens to the undead, who needed no sleep, no rest, no food, and were just as strong and durable. In protest, many tried to run away, or killed themselves before the Royalty could. The Prince and Princess’ convictions managed to silence the ruling King of Seolfmond, who then disappeared. The Prince, now ruler of Seolfmond, had his sight on Gilsunne, but the Princess still held her family dear, and did not want to see a new war start again. She killed the Prince at night, and user her necromantic knowledge to turn herself into a lich, laying her heart with her beloved forever. She named herself the Queen of the Undead, ruling over a now undead nation with a vampire court, and set a cloud of darkness over the nation. To this day, the undead nation is still a strong force, and are constantly pushing the country’s borders with the Elven nation and the Dwarven country.   The Dwarves are fearless and headstrong against the undead. They’re unwilling to share their mountain home and their resources with creatures that can’t even utilize them. However, since both them and the elves are protecting against the undead, they’ve left their borders curiously open. The Dwarves are democratic, and are governed by a president.   The Elves, on the other hand, are god-loving, and fearful of the undead. Towns located near the undead border have been evacuated, becoming literal ghost towns. Their only protection against the undead are the paladins. However, they not only have to worry about the undead attacking from the North, they’re also being attacked from the South, by the Gnomes. Their system of government is strictly theocratic, and their main leader is a Vicar.   The Gnomes who hate all tall people, especially hate the Elves, will throw rocks and call them names at the wall they erected between their lands. Gnomes are descendants from the Fey, and some feel prouder of their roots than others. This was the cause of their civil war, with the pro-fey winning against the anti-fey. This is why the Gnomes are anarchists, and are broken up into factions and gangs that roam the mainland and islands, hating each other. Due to their closeness with the fey, the lands they inhabit are lush and green, and most probably dangerous to unwary travelers. Since they’re anarchic, they don’t have a single leader they follow, but several different Barons for their groups.   One of the few races that try to explore Dalmadonu for materials are the Animalfolk. This group, that consists in majority of the ratfolk, the catfolk, the gnoll, the tengu, and the nagaji, are mostly merchants, or have marketable skills, and some travel the world in caravans to trade and sell whatever they can. They live together in land they bought from the humans, located in the South of the West continent, and is the country closest to Dalmadonu. This country is also the newest on the map. They have a highly hierarchical system of rulership, and at the top of it is a council of 5 members, one of each type of Animalfolk.   Before the human settlers came, the West continent was populated by the Animalfolk and the Halflings. Then, the human settlers came, and planted their flag. The Animalfolk bought back their land, however the Halflings asked for their independence and gained it; though most of them are content to have their own land, some of the Halfling are still angry for what happened, and constantly petition for more land. Their system of government is divided between a collection of Magistrates, each being the head of the family that was voted in for their quadrant. They report to the human king.   The Human nation of Gilsunne is ruled by the last King in a line of successors, who happens to only be 12 years old.   There are also other creatures and monsters that don't have a country to their own, and roam freely or house themselves in dungeons. Other sentient races include, Aasimar, Tieflings, Centaurs, Kitsune, Merfolk, Goblins, Orcs, Giants… and the Fey, but most of them live on Dalmadonu.
