In 2012 CE, an explosion stemming from a small mine on the US west coast opened the sky to another space, three others. Light years away, they became closely adjoined by a great rift in the sky- THE Rift.   The dominant species of the four spaces formed an alliance, and created the first intergalactic peace covenant. They agreed to engage in a sharing of technology, cultures, and languages, and move into a peaceful era of prosperity. It could have gone much worse, though it didn't. But at what cost?   First to reach out to the other spaces, Greenspace sent envoys of Angrèn to try and reach a point of common ground. Greenspace is ruled by the Angrèn monarchy, based on planet Kalifor. They are a proud and militaristic society, having expanded their reaches through both conquest and negotiation.   The Republic of Bluespace is a relatively small area of officially explored territory, compared to the formidable Greenspace and the vast Redspace. Known for being a peace-loving race, Bluespace is largely host to the Ferudun— mysterious dragonlike creatures that are remarkably adaptable and remain mostly unstudied.   Blackspace, also known as the "Motherland", was the originating location of the Great Fracture. It's reigning immediate species is human, who have demonstrated impressive ingenuity and adaptability when it came to interacting with other species. They do have a reputation for being unpredictable and violent, and were the most at odds about the positives or negatives of making alien contact. To soothe this issue, it was the Motherland of Earth that first proposed the idea of an inter-spacial committee designed to mantain peace and order. (The Syndicate)   Redspace, the last of the four spaces, has a more volatile reputation. It is the only space without a reigning species, and is ridiculously large compared to the other spaces. This is mostly empty, however, and Redspace is home to nearly all types of intelligent life. It is also a common ground for thieves and criminals, who hide among the asteroid fields. It is a large question as to why Redspace was opened by the portal when it is a largely chaotic and unpopulated region. (There are, of course, many smaller civilizations that spring up, claiming to be the dominant species. Infighting is commonplace and to be expected.)
