Sin-Hallodri

Northern continent where only the strongest survive.

Sin-Hallodri is the name of the northern continent home of the Erd-Honn Dwarves and Kruhlmaak Goblins. Due to its coverage of Sin-Hallodri, the Frelkinung Mountains are colloquially referred to in place of the actual name of the continent.   The mountains have been heavily contested for years by the Goblins and Dwarves, resulting in seemingly endless assaults and raids.

Geography

Sin-Hallodri is a large continent, with extensively varied terrain. Although approximately 43% of the continent is considered mountainous, there are plenty of forests, lakes, and various natural resources such as edible fungi and deposits of sagasteel, a seemingly endless mineral used to create strong armour and weaponry. Its lakes and rivers are home to a large assortment of different kinds of fish. Common predators include ursa, canines, and raptors.   The climate of Sin-Hallodri is overall cold, with snow falling from the Frelkinung Mountains and covering large areas of the continent. Strangely, some areas are seemingly unaffected by the snow, or exhibit weird phenomena. The local wildlife use this as a means to navigate around potential weirded areas.

Yeldrun Forest

At the base of the Frelkinung Mountains is the forest of Yeldrun. It is known to corrupt existing flora and fauna (including sentient beings like Goblins and Dwarves) or create entirely new subspecies otherwise not present in the rest of Sin-Hallodri or the Frelkinung. The Yeldrun grows at a steady, faster rate than is considered normal. Observed by Dwarven Alchemists, the Yeldrun is able to cover a quarter of a small valley in under a month.   Due to the Kruhlmaak's 'deyrandir' attunement, they can find and gain near supernatural powers by killing and wearing any of the strange beasts they find. Erd-Honn alchemists and engineers use the resources in the forest for powerful weaponry, such as potions from the fungi or wood for siege weapons.

Frelkinung Mountains

The name 'Frelkinung Mountains' refers to the largest range of mountains the northern hemisphere of Oszmorthorn. At the base of the Frelkinung Mountains are wide valleys and long rivers that run down from the mountains. Further up the mountain are pockets of barren wasteland and sparsely vegetated valleys between steep cliff faces. The Frelkinung peaks are freezing, and in cold winters can even be subject to flash freezes, but are home to the renowned Warbringer Kruhlmaak tribe and the Dwarven capitol of Sin-Mordallhitt.   Frelkinung Mountains are divided into the Oll-Forn, eastern side of Frelkinung, and the Uln-Troch, the western expanse.   In the center of the Frelkinung are the 'Borderlands' that seperate the two sides of the Frelkinung. Nestled between the peaks of the two mountains are alpine forests that run beside the Hyarkenbruuntand Miilesfraath fjords and inlets. By following these bodies of water, those traversing the Frelkinung can cross between factional territories.

Oll-Forn

Oll-Forn - otherwise known as the Vodnirlikkr to the dominant Kruhlmaak - is considered Goblin territory. At the base of the eastern side of Frelkinung is a trekking path that starts in the Yeldrun forest close to the south-east shoreline of Sin-Hallodri, and leads up to the Frelkinung peaks, where the Warbringer Kruhlmaak reside. The trek up from Yeldrun is protected by Kruhlmaak warriors, posted to stop the Yeldrun forest from growing too fast. The path leads through the steep, barren wasteland further up the side. Despite this, however, the Kruhlmaak tribes that reside in Oll-Forn have since settled comfortably along the rocky cliffs, and have created villages that, if ventured through, will lead on the safest path to the Warbringers.

Uln-Troch

Uln-Troch is considered Erd-Honn territory, and is home of the underground city of Sin-Mordallhitt. Uln-Troch is a much more dangerously steep part of the Frelkinung Mountains. The safest means of traversing it is by the stone paths the Dwarves carved out centuries ago. The Dwarven towns across Uln-Troch were built into the various mountains. In Dwarven culture, the mountains are referred to the names of the towns deep inside of them. For example, the tallest peak of Uln-Troch is named after Mordallhitt.

Fauna & Flora

"I saw two stag horns come out from the shadows, but no head or body. I thought I had gone crazy, but then out came a charcoal black hoof, attached to a thin, black leg. Its fur was black, its eyes were black, everything about it was black!... I saw it appear, like it walked through some kind of invisible cloth! It was like the forest was hiding this monster, and was now setting it against me!"
— Hosna Dwarfbreaker, Kruhlmaak Warrior.

Yeldrun Forest

The Yeldrun forest is home to rare flora and fauna, but is also known to grow and spread rapidly along the base of the mountains. Those that dare to venture deeply into it will often find never before seen animals, plants, and fungus. In the most inaccessible pockets are thought to be where these creatures spawn or even mutate into vicious abominations. Kruhlmaak warriors and Erd-Honn prisoners serving life sentences are sent to keep the forest from overtaking the base of the mountain and stop the forest from creating more strange beasts.   Patches of forested wilderness grow further up the mountain, though the presence of flora is not as abundant as it is at the base of the mountain.

The Borderlands

Despite the name, the Borderlands are a vibrant and beautiful picturesque landscape, home to the Frelkinung's more common plants and animals. Pine forests expand across the divide between Oll-Forn and Uln-Troch, and are habitats for a stable ecology. However, in spite of this, there are seemingly random pockets of the Yeldrun's influence creeping from the base of the mountains into the forest; occasionally, some animal carcasses are found without a logical cause of death.   However, it is also worth noting that the Borderlands are home to rare fungi, mushrooms, and medicinal plants. The Erd-Honn alchemists are renowned brewers for their application of these flora in their various alcohols and medicines.   Across the borderlands, Kruhlmaak Oracles nurture the balance of the wilderness, foreseeing which animals must survive and which must die so that others can live. Popular among the Oracles are the common 'rock rabbits' that burrow beneath the ground and live in large groups, for their ability to propagate quickly and serve as a reliable source of meat; Oracles will defend groups of rock rabbits until they become too large, then hunt and kill them or lead predators to them for sustenance.   Erd-Honn farmers and foresters live off the land, but are often the targets of the Kruhlmaak for spoiling the wilderness.

Atop Frelkinung Mountains

The peaks of the Frelkinung are snowy and near uninhabitable, save for the Kruhlmaak and the Erd-Honn already residing there. Despite this, animals escaping predators will attempt to lose their pursuers at these peaks, but will abandon it and head down closer to winter. Those that do not escape are almost always flash frozen. Some animals, like rock rabbits, are not as affected, and will even lure predators to the mountain during this time. The rock rabbit's attackers are frozen, then eaten alive.
