Putrid star

A flowering plant native to the desert regions it earns its name from its absolutely repulsive smell. It releases a rotting-flesh odour to attract flies to pollinate it. The plant smells so terrible that one whiff of it will coat your mouth and nose with its rotting stench and you will be unable to smell or taste anything else.
This plant is highly nutritious and can be considered enough calories and vitamins to cover an entire day worth of travel, some nomads are know to eat these while on their journey across the desert, but after eating it no one will want to talk to you for quite some time.
