Mercam's Keep
Mercam's Keep is a township south of Camptown, where the river widens to a large lake. It is here, along the river's Eastern bank stands what once was a haven for it's owner Madam Mercam Zayel. Tired of the various machinations of the Golorian elite, the first daughter of the Zayel family, left along side her brother Merkim Zayel, first son of the Zayel family. Despite their mutual love and fascination with the world of the arcane, the two siblings, found their paths, separating as Merkim, went eastward to the Sunset Desert, there to build a place where the Arcane Council's grasp could not reach. Meanwhile Lady Mercam went toward the Sunken Forest, far enough away from the tiresome squabbles of the elite and their 'needs' but close enough to still enjoy the benefits of civilization. For nearly three years, Lady Mercam Zayel used her vast wealth to build what she with great pride named, "Mercam's Keep."
Built of quarried stone, Mercam's Keep itself was modest when compared to the great structures of Golora. Four turrets stood ever vigilante over a small township built around the stone Keep. This township housing the many workers that toiled for Lady Zayel. Came to be a rather bustling village all of which was protected by vast stone walls that was watched by Lady Zayel's personal guards. Below all of this, Lady Zayel's had her workers construct a grand workshop, one where she could delve into the mysteries of the arcane world in solitude, and continue researching a topic that many deemed dangerous and foolhardy, one that her brother, like herself strove to solve no matter the cost. The creation of an artificial body, one that could house the soul forever more. Never aging, not needing sustenance, and could allow her to watch the world progress, change, and better itself.
Mercam Zayel, however soon found the world around her shaken to the core as the world around her and her Keep was rent to to utter disarray with the Sinking of Golora.
"I know...little, Madam Mercam Zayel and her Keep was a place close to the forest...West of here. She was a collector more than anything....had a strange fascination with the arcane though she....she was not necessarily a caster. Though her town was built to protect all inside especially her belongings."
