Earendil
Earendil, a major city for the Merfolk that was built on a fault line, is swallowed whole by the earth and when Golora sinks into the Bay of the Serpent.
Garthok sighs existentially and takes a seat on the beach in front of Kaia. "We have this spooky story about the ghost-merfolk. The ones that died during the Sinking. It is said that when Golora sunk into the ocean, it shook the Spine mountains. The underwater city of Earendil is said to have been on a fault line in the earth--directly connected to the Spine. Apparently, the earth opened up and swallowed it whole." He folds his arms and crosses his feet. "OHHHH!! Oh, I KNOW THIS STORY!!" Kaia chimes. "Yeah, yeah!! Parents tell it to their kids so that we don't wander too far away from them when we're swimming!!" Garthok nods at Kaia. "Before the current King Valkin, we mostly used slaves for labor and such. Many of them were merfolk and triton. Surface-dwelling races are just a lot of effort--they can only work in places that have pockets of air, or they need our Priests and Priestesses to cast water breathing on them once a day. So a lot of those stories have found their way into our culture in some form or another." "Honestly, I haven't thought of the Merrow in forever...my parents tried to be more 'progressive' about raising me," Kaia replies, rolling her eyes and using air quotes around 'progressive.' "I always thought of it as a kid's story. You really think that's what grabbed me...?"
