Saint Gordona

"The Pious"

Saint Gordona stands tall as the prime angel of Pelor, and the upholder of his tenets. Commonly depicted as a priest in long and baggy robes. Most times he has two white wings emerging from his back, and has the word of Pelor written on sanctified parchment nailed into his flesh. Some scholars believe this to be a metaphor representing Gordona's unyielding dedication to his lord, as he would suffer through all the pain in the world to hold to his vows and serve his lord. Less commonly he is depicted holding a great torch high, and is known as the beacon angel who leads the unfaithful back into the light.   During the Night of Deliverance it is said that Gordona never raised a finger to harm his foes, as he strode through the battlefield reciting the word of his lord, which offered the heavenly host that rode with Pelor protection from evil.   As he is the patron of fealty and the faithful, his symbols have reflected that. The most common is the hand holding an open scroll, (presumably the Tenets) and an angel knelt in prayer.
Many knights of Norvo adorn their armor with the same bits of parchment that Gordona wears, either nailed into the armor or sealed on with crimson wax. This is to show their fealty to Lord Pelor, and with each brave deed they are granted another. This tradition is known as warding a knight, and is believed that the knight in question is blessed by Gordona with each parchment added.
