Ponte Do Cavaleiro

"The Knight's Bridge"

The village known as Ponte do Cavaleiro is built upon a long bridge that spans the Esterlos river. Originally built as a military instillation to transport Norvian troops across the southern coast of Norvo, It is now a quiet hamlet of vibrantly painted townhouses that loom over the sparkling waters below. To accommodate the lack of room to build houses on the bridge, local masons have taken to building double storied houses. This leads to many of the first stories being made into homely family run shops while the upper story serves as the residential areas. These living quarters are typically built with overhanging balconies granting those within a great view of the hustle and bustle of the bridge below. Plants can be seen dangling from each balcony, bringing a bit more color and life to the already vibrant structure.    While the southern colonization efforts have been brought to a halt in recent years, the garrison just off of the bridge remains active still, holding and training the nation's infantry and cavalry. The town itself also remains fairly active, as all who traverse the southern coast find this destination a peaceful and picturesque stop on their journey.
The Esterlos river flows from Mount Esterlos, and is known for sparkling as if made of starlight. In reality the sparkling comes from hundreds of eroded crystals, carried by the rushing water down from the caves deep within the mountains. Very few travel that far up, but those who do stray from the beaten path speak of large caves glittering with enormous crystals, and contain fully supported ecosystems. But those are perhaps just legend.    What remains strictly outside of legend is the impact the crystals from the river have on the people who live in Ponte do Cavaleiro. Many take the time to fish it out of the current to make beautiful mosaics, and some have even devised ways of dying the glass to make intricate pieces of artwork. This has led to the town's uprising as a center of art trade.
Ponte do Cavaleiro is run by Bishop Vicente Panadero. He is known to walk across the bridge often with an entourage of soldiers in tow, perusing the shops and purchasing various expensive goods.
