Kalulatu

Kalulatu is the god of the dead. He is seen in texts as having the head of a vulture, and is always surrounded by his three pet magpies. When it is a mortal's time to die, Kalulatu himself will appear to them and take their hand and lead them to Shel'tial if they were pure. Unlike most gods who roam the oasis, Kalulatu is said to live among the dead in Shel'tial. However those who are impure are said to see Kalulatu in a much different light, as he begins to look like more skeletal and horrifying. Those souls are sent to eternal nightmare in their terror.    Kalulatu is commonly seen as one of the kinder gods however, for his wife is all things that grow, and has taught him the value of the souls he escorts. Many songs are sung to Kalulatu during the embalming portion of burials. These songs speak of the love they had for those who have passed, and bid Kalulatu to cherish them until those alive can join them once more in Shel'tial.    His symbol is a vulture's head silhouetted by the moon.
Undead are vile to Kalulatu as they stand against everything he and his wife stand for. It is believed the concept of undeath came into being as a cruel trick made by Nafir. A war was waged long ago, started by the vile whispers of Nafir. As punishment for the unnecessary loss of life Kalulatu made Nafir help him retrieve the wandering souls so that they may be escorted to their afterlife. Nafir gathered the souls as promised, but instead forced them back into their old bodies, dooming them to forever remain trapped in waking nightmare. Since then Kalulatu has been keen to distrust Nafir and his lies.
It is said that Kalulatu once had a brother that was also a god of death, but this sibling took the side of Ty'ah'mah during the sundering of the sands. It was said that he believed through undeath the cycle of life could be broken, and all could live forever. He, like the other nameless was cast down into a perpetual prison. That doesn't stop the various cults attempting to free the elder god, and gain immortality for themselves.
