On a routine voyage to the west, he and his crew stumbled across a seemingly undefended survey vessel from the Havenport Geographical Foundation, and boarded it in hopes of finding valuables or supplies. However, the crew was rebuffed by an unforeseen adventuring party, and Crimsonbeard was captured.
