Wolven

Long ago, us dragons brought ruin to the wolven through brutal enslavement. We domesticated them into small packs to provide tribute, entertainment, and complete servitude. We turned ourselves into gods by closing off these mortals. Dragons view this conquering as a pinnacle moment, but I view this as a weakness. Wolves may lack proper education and resources, but their undying loyalty can give us insight into our own way of life. We are torn among each other into a hierarchical standard of murder and backstabbing; yet, the wolves harbor together to share strength and unity. When the time comes for them to rise back up, our differences will bleed through, and we will lose more than our lives - our freedom. I will patiently wait for the wolves to rise against their masters, and when they do, I will stand along side them as an ally.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wolven display a characteristically lupine appearance, featuring elongated muzzles, fur covering their whole body, distinctively canine ears and nose. They are anthropomorphic, albeit with digitigrade legs that allow for advantages in running. Wolven are typically a little taller than the average human, standing at an average of 6.4 feet when it comes to height. Just like their feral counterparts, the fur color of wolven can vary depending on their lineage, although tones of grey tend to be more common amongst them. Their fur is thick, especially around the neck, providing natural protection against cold environments and water overall, but not handling hot environments as well as creatures with shorter fur, unless trimmed or shaved regularly. Wolven have short claws at the point of each finger, but those are hardly ever suited for any sort of combat. Their teeth, however, is their primary natural weapon. Wolven have an array of sharp teeth, including larger canines, that can make their bite quite damaging. Their sense of smell and hearing is better than a human's, making them naturally good at hunting and tracking.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Wolven are primarily carnivores. It is rare to hear about wolven who are omnivores.

Average Intelligence

Low to average. Wolves often lack education around the world, including lore, culture, and socialization. Most of their knowledge is passed down from collected stories taught by elders. For the enslaved wolves, education is also constructed based on the individual dragon and may result in false information.

History

Stories talk about a time when wolves were a free race, acting as a great nation that shaped the world through their druidic nature. The humans respected their viewpoint and often consulted the wolven on important political changes. Detailed in books are stories that demonstrated their heroism and influence, yet these tales disappeared within the last three hundred years after being dominated by dragons. As time has passed, the relics that demonstrated their resiliency, strength, and advancement have been destroyed by their new owners, leading to the domestication of the wolven culture. In these days, the population has been split up into three different groups: The enslaved, free wolves in Cyre, and wolves on the Islands of Ansien. For the enslaved wolves, their culture varies greatly depending on their dragon lord. This is different for the free wolves, who continue to struggle in assimilating into human culture. The last wolves continue to hide away from the world and as a result have been slowly forgetting about their origins.
