Arcane Hierarchy

Tiers of Magic

Besides being separated into types, magic is also classified by its level of power. The culmination of these classifications is known as the Hierarchy of Magic. It is separated into 10 power levels, each called a rank, and split into 5 tiers. Base (1-2), Low (3-4), Mid (5-6), High (7-9), God (10)

Ranks:

• 1st Rank

This is magic that almost anyone can use without training. It has little to no practical function. It includes only the weakest of elemental manipulation, such as creating a spark.

• 2nd Rank

This is magic that newbies who have just started training are capable of. It is still unfit for proper combat. It includes very weak elemental manipulation, such as the maintenance of a small flame.

• 3rd Rank

This is magic that the average person has after completing basic training. It can be used for simple combat. It includes basic augen skills, like skin hardening, as well as elemental ingra and praesi abilities, such as throwing small fireballs and creating small rock shields. Very basic divine magic usage starts at this rank. It includes low level espa abilities, such as creating illusionary sounds. The usage of duality magic starts at this tier.

• 4th Rank

Pupil

• 5th Rank

This is magic that arcademy graduates can utilize and is the level of power that is considered average for anyone taking up an education in magic. It includes reinforced augen skills and substantial elemental control. It also includes average espa skills such as creating apparitions, and weak kione spells. Divine magic at this rank can be used to heal superficial wounds.

• 6th Rank

Mastery students

• 7th Rank

This is magic used by avid and skilled practitioners such as academy teachers. Users of magic at this tier are considered knowledgeable about magic and skilled in its usage. It also includes substantial espa skills, such as creating realistic isolated illusions, and average kione abilities. Vocar skills are aquired at this rank, which can be used to summon small physical entities over a few kilometres. Divine magic at this level can be used to repair internal injuries.

• 8th Rank

This is magic that only the very best of Earthen mortals are capable of using. They are usually masters or grandmasters of their craft. This rank includes powerful augen, and elemental ingra and praesi abilities, as well as strong kione skills and espa abilities, like creating illusions that can trick all senses. Vocar skills can be used for long distance teleportation. Divine magic at this level can be used for slow regeneration of lost limbs. The usage of spiritual magic starts here. It can be used to sap souls and raise the undead.

• 9th Rank

This is magic achieved by mortals as strong as the Avatars. It is magic at a level that, if out of control, would be able to bring ruin upon cities and spell disaster for a civilization. Ingra abilities here can level mountains and augen skills can allow a mortal to move at lightning speed. Kione spells can trap and vocar abilities can summon almost any living creature. Divine magic here is capable of rapid regeneration of an entire body, as long as it is not completely disintegrated. It can be used mainly for very potent ingra, praesi, and kione skills.

• 10th Rank

Magic at this rank is nigh impossible to achieve by mortals. Venturing into this territory of magic would equate to becoming a god. Ingra and praesi abilities are a danger to entire countries. Vocar skills enable interdimension summoning. Spiritual magic enables the revival of the dead. The true power of divine magic is unlocked at this stage. It allows users to manipulate forces of nature such as gravity. It also grants mystical powers like telekinesis.
