Zephyr (Zeph-Year)

King of the Birds

Jamie
The Zephyr is the dominant species of bird in Ordeon with many flocks roaming the skies. This winged species is over a meter long with a wing span 4 times that length. Its large feathers are often used for quills and fancy clothes. Its multiple rows of fanged teeth can tear through the bark of any tree so it can feast on the many large yellow, orange and gold insects that burrow themselves into the wood slowly killing it from the inside. The teeth also allow the Zephyr to eat larger creatures that will greater satisfy its monstrous diet such as rodents like the Fido and the horse like the Aidar, which is the Zephyr's favourite food as they contain many fibres and obsessive amounts of fat that help them survive Ordeon's harsh winters.   The Zephyr can fly for hours without breaks and over weeks without food. It is a relative of the Condor and yet can survive much longer and beats its wings even less. It was the main cause for its cousins demise as their hunting technique was far superior and Condor eggs were often picked out of their nests and rolled down the sharpest and highest peaks in Ordeon.    Despite their cruel behaviour dwarves often refer to them as princeps caeli which means ruler of the sky and are worshipped as the bringer of children like storks are for humans.

WHO DISCOVERED THEM?

What would of happened with out them

Without the Zephyr the skies would be a very different place without the occurrence of flocks with hundreds upon thousands of birds blocking the sky, sometimes blocking out the Sun. The Condor would have been the largest bird and would have ruled the skies.
