Look, we all want holograms to be real. Holograms are cool. But it just doesn't work. There are some neat optical illusions you can do or specialized 3D monitors, but thats about as far as it goes.
Augmented reality is a lot easier, and thats what won out instead. A lot of user interfaces, public information, and advertisements are done through AR in the future, commonly referred to as Views. Many Views are public, meaning that any open device can pick them up. Private Views are only accessible to people with the right credentials.
Views are especially popular in space because they allow for aesthetic improvements and artwork that they simply don't have the available resources to make for real. Walking through a space station with Views enabled and disabled are two very different experiences.
View capability is built in every vacsuit by default, and has been for centuries. Superprosthetic Eyes also have View capability, as well as many brands of goggles or glasses.
