Thoubar

The Stratocracy of Thoubar

Leader: Chief of Defense Mikolas Otcenas

If one were to ask, what is the least stable place to live, they would quickly be answered with "Thoubar". However this is only a half truth, yes the nation is imperiled between its 2 neighbors but they are neither pushovers nor alone. A better question to ask is, "which nations troops have the most zeal?" as the entire country has been restructured over the past few hundred years preparing for the inevitable invasion. The people of Thoubar are some of the least compromising and most likely to fight anything to the end (though some would call it suicidal zeal), the people have been trained to fight always like there is no escape.
Though its neighbors are not the friendliest, Thoubar does garner a large amount of respect from its stalwart ally, strangely, Orea, with a teleportation circle established in the capitol Thoutranoc by the Magocracy. This is mainly due to its exploration of the arcane and its vast expeditions into "The Eye", which it takes mainly for its own defense. Given its low population it does not require vast imports of food, unlike its neighbor Uswait, and can easily offset that deficit with its continued trade of knowledge and magic items with Orea, as well as arms shipments to its ally on the other side of The Dominion and its vast exports of raw/refined ore to Eisenberg.
With a general mindset of do or die resistance, necromancy is allowed in the country. Though Orea does also allow such magic, Thoubar allows more extreme necromancy as long as it continues to aid with national defense. State trained necromancers are also the most plentiful in this nation, with every military having both a necromancer and a crypt ready to be raised to defend the position.
With all this talk of national defense, one must wonder about the general citizenry. The quality of life, though not the best, is quite even across the board, with the cut in quality mainly due to the focus on defense. The average citizen is mainly a cog in the war machine of the government, with life centered around war production, so much so that they import the most amount of civilian goods per capita on the continent.
