Urteargar
Demographics
The lower class of Urteargar is made up of laborers. These people work in the mines, tend to the flocks, and serve the houses of the gentry. There is a notably high population of artisans in Urteargar. The high number of artisans attract several merchant companies that do business in the city, as well as outside. There is also a thriving underground market for slavers, whose slaves are absent from the census.
Government
The city is typically run by whomever has the most money. This usually means that the leader of the most successful trading company is in power, that is until they are unseated.
Defences
A high, well-guarded wall surrounds the city.
Industry & Trade
The supply of gems and ores was enough to start a boom town here, but its establishment as a mecca of the arts has truly raised it to the economic power it is today. More and more artisans ply their trade here, attracted by the thriving economy and wealthy clients. As a result, many works of art are produced here. From beautiful paintings to wonders of glass-blowing, ornate woodworking to masterful taxidermy, if you can make something fancy, here is the place to do it.
Assets
Being nested in the Char-tops, Urteargar has access to, and subsequent control over, a wealth of minerals and gems. It also serves as one of the safer ways to gain passage over the mountains.
Geography
Urteargar is seated in the Char-tops, the range of mountains splitting Omn Orthar in twain. It sits in a natural valley, with long winding roads leading up and out of the city.
Natural Resources
Gems and ores come up from the mines in droves. The volcanic soil makes for good farming, but the topography of the surrounding land makes it difficult, and the city doesn't invest in it any more than it needs to.
