Spire-stones

Nobody knows how old these enigmatic structures are. Whoever originally created them is no longer around to tell, but they must have served a purpose back in time as they seem a fairly common sight around the Takkou cluster and space within the Kiki Eight Tribes Empire. Almost any livable or half-usable planet seems to have at least one. Occasionally a planet will have more than one - dispersed to different continents or parts, or sometimes even within a viable walking distance from each other.
It is obvious there is something special about them, and they are seen as - revered as - a living legacy of the Ancients. The sages claim the stones know things - but people who can give a credible explanation of the matter are far and few. Mostly, they serve little day to day purpose in society. They seem to resist attempts to research them, and it is believed they have never been properly studied - even powerful long-range scans have resulted in an unsettling energy bursts, so the experiments are rarely repeated.

Architecture

They appear to be made of regular solid stone. The stone part may have some small features and even varying colors, but otherwise it looks just like your regular stone somewhere in the same general area. They may also have parts that seem like a tree bark, for the lack of a better description - obviously advanced coal composites but nothing truly exotic as a material.
The shape always conforms to the same overall pattern. Wide at base, the stone eventually narrows into a point. Typically they stand several meters tall, and there isn't great variation in size. For all that is known, each is unique for shape and even composition.

Tourism

In places easy to reach, they are a site of frequent pilgrimage. Although not every visitor will approach the stone to a close distance, those who do will often have an awe inspiring experience. Many keep their distance, perhaps out of superstition, or may simply experience an unexplainable dread and turn back, while some claim they had disturbing and incomprehensible visions. Nevertheless, just lingering around these indomitable structures can bring one a sense of elevation and often community, if it's a popular day for pilgrimage.
The Salari-species seems to like to visit them as well, although typically only in brief. They seem to know more as they are said to approach without hesitation.
