Tarzonis Empire

The Tarzonis Empire was the major organization that supported the dragons during the First and Second Ages of Dragons. They met their end after the Battle of Groz Creek during the First Age of War and were absorbed into Gadelina.

History

The Tarzonis Empire was formed during the Age of Exploration and was known for its aggressive nature towards outside nations. It was established by dragonborn Lord Greenclaw Tarzonis, and quickly gained momentum in the Northern Peaks by seizing land by force at a time when many kingdoms were still building themselves.   Tarzonis was known for its high intensity of slave labor, which it used to quickly build up its forces and communities. Their culture highly favored a 'survival of the fittest' mentality, with strength being the defining metric in their caste system.   Near the end of the Age of Exploration, Tarzonis was approached by the dragon Armorwing the Mighty, who declared the dragons were going to invade and take what was theirs. They gave Tarzonis the option to follow them, and the empire did.   During the First Age of Dragons, the Tarzonis Empire served under the dragons and helped lead ground invasion forces across the lands. They helped conquer Centra Isle and the Western Hills, and in return for their service they had the autonomy to build their empire across many of these areas.   During the end of the Second Age of Dragons, Tarzonis started suffering more losses as many of the enslaved people started fighting back. They were driven out of the Eastern Fang and out of the areas of the Northern Peaks.   During the Age of Fire, the Libertala Coalition was founded, and the unity of their forces drove Tarzonis back even more. As dragons began to fall, the Tarzonis Empire started to lose direction and eventually scaled backand split their forces to defend The Great Roost on Centra Isle and their capital of Tarzonis Tower in the Northern Peaks.   When the Great Roost fell and the dragons were driven back to the underground caverns, Tarzonis was presented an offer of surrender from the Libertala Coalition. Having no other option, Tarzonis signed the Red Documents, a treaty absolving their armies and preventing them from starting future aggression in the future. It also tasked them with a large amount of war reparations to be paid to the other kingdoms. In exchange, Rekvul Tarzonis, last of the Tarzonis line, was spared.   Throughout the Age of Unity, the Tarzonis Empire paid back their reparations and dissolved their military but was restricted to a small amount of land around Tarzonis Tower. They were heavily kept in check by the surrounding kingdom of Gadelina and it was reported that their dragonborn even faced brutal discrimination and hate crimes due to their ties back to the dragons.   However, Tarzonis was slowly networking with other dragon supporters and believed in the leadership of the dragons. They wanted to overthrow Gadelina, and explore the caverns behind the Serpentine Pass to reconnect with the dragons and bring them back to their rightful spot as rules of Olora. They readied this army for war and launched a surprise attack in 608 upon Prince Rylar Granward of Gadelina, decapitating him and making a public declaration of their newfound strength.   In response, Gadelina declared war on Tarzonis and gathered their army to march to Tarzonis Tower through the bottleneck of Groz Creek. Lord Rekvul, though aged, knew that his men could defend their tower by using the high ground and forcing the Gadelians through the dangerous swamp of Groz Creek.   However, this event, known as the Battle of Groz Creek, ended up being a bloodbath for the Tarzonians. Unbeknownst to them, King Matthias Granward, who persoanlly led the attack, had made a pact with a dark djinn and used the powerful magic afforded to him to destroy over half of the Tarzonis army in one fell swoop.   Their army in ruins, the Tarzonis army stood no chance, and Rekvul was killed by King Granward. The rest of the army scattered and any that were caught were publicly executed. Gadelina seized Tarzonis Tower and renamed it Granward Tower.   The remainder of the Tarzonis supporters are scattered and mostly integrated into other societies in the modern age. However, there are still those that hold support of their beliefs that dragons are the rightful rules of the lands.
