The Abyss of Riko
Riko's abyss is an immeasurably deep hole in the ground; the depth is believed to be 1,000 meters deep. At certain depth markers is what is being called "barriers", these barriers are depths within the abyss which when climbed back through cause detrimental effects. At 100 miles explorers experience nausea. At 300 explorers lose their sense of balance and throw up. At 500 explorers bleed out of all orifices and lose all senses temporarily. It is currently unknown why this occurs. Some mages argue it is due to high magicule density in the area though it is still unknown if magicules have that kind of effect on the human body.
Believed to have been created by the Spirit Riko the abyss is truly not of this world, no one knows why it exists or to what end Riko created it for.

Geography
The inside of Riko's abyss is unlike anything humanity has ever seen, inside are plants, animals, and ancient Kyrian skeletons all in a praying position facing into the abyss.
As you go farther down the environment changes and becomes more hostile, make sure to be well prepared when entering the abyss.
