Kardashevs

Common parlance for toposophonts: beings whose mental faculties significantly exceed those of transhumans in many respects. "Kardashev" references the Kardashev scale, a rudimentary measure of a society's advancement in the form of a logarithmic ranking by power generation capability and processing power capacity. Kardashev Type 2, for instance, indicated the ability to harness the full power output of a star.   In its present state, the combined multiversal modosophont economy might be said to collectively represent a Kardashev Type 2 society, discounting the titanic stress-energies summoned from the NSET brane for FTL and reactionless propulsion, which are mostly unusable for other purposes. The Kardashev scale is not considered a robust metric by which to analyze societies except at some of the broadest strokes.   Toposophonts are thought to be numerous and diverse throughout the observable multiverse, but the apocalyptic conflict that brought the Webway War to a close appears to have decimated many of their numbers in the volume of space that has been reached so far by transhuman starships. Nevertheless, notably, transhumanity enjoys contact with several remaining Kardashev groups, though small in number, but others are thought to inhabit our volume of hyperspace undetected or unstudied.   Notably, a hypothesis on the nature of the Metric Ghosts that has been gaining traction is that they represent mobile industrial nodes of Kardashev societies of an entirely unfamiliar biophysics that may be based on complex dark matter. Complex dark matter is a catch-all term for forms of matter that interact very little in the electromagnetic / strong / weak regimes, and therefore cannot be spotted or touched by normal means, except by gravity - but these forms of matter are nevertheless massive and capable of forming complex solids, including the means for machinery and life. Despite vastly improved understandings of dark matter, high-precision study of the complex dark matter forms that are known to permeate the Local Habitable Nexus eludes transhuman science.
