In a celestial search for answers, the god Oghma created a vivarium on the Prime Material plane. He formed a sun, moon, and planet millions of miles from Toril and filled it with a wide variety of life. Fearing the other deities would interfere with his study, Oghma devised a binding magical contract that would limit the influence of all gods and goddesses on the sphere, ensuring a variable-free experiment. Through various means, the god of knowledge acquired the signature of every single deity, and his world was born. For the first five centuries, enormous elemental titans wreaked havoc over the world. They fought between each other, creating massive mudslides and fire tornados that threatened to destroy all other life. In a final act of hope, five metallic dragon mages fought the primordials and imprisoned them on islands across the globe. The dragons, now at the top of the food chain, ruled over the inhabitants of Oghmaria and fought amongst each other for territory. Very few of the kingdoms were actually benevolent to their subjects. Some citizens were grateful to their new masters for saving the world, while others saw it as simply replacing one kind of tyranny with another. Around the turn of the first millennium, groups began to revolt against the dragons. Battles between the dragons and the various races of the world raged on for over 400 years; a time that came to be known as the Dragon Wars. Free from their draconic overlords, the people of Oghmaria became fruitful and multiplied. However, interracial conflict and border disputes caused many internal battles and wars. It wouldn't be until the second millennium, that true peace would find the land. It is currently the year 2,113 and there hasn't been a major battle between the races in over a century. Minor squabbles between groups occasionally break out, but even the goblinoid races are relatively civilized. Trade is widespread and a focus is being placed on new technologies. Society, as a whole, is in a time of prosperity.
