Zakhiiran Cuisine

traditional Zakhiiran cuisine integrated the local supply of coconut, various nuts, barshnip, various types of meat, and the recent addition of especially sourdough bread, which the Zakhiirans had quickly come to grow a love for, even if it was of Phelorian origin.    Baba Ganoush. A sort of dip consisting of locally produced eggplants, juice from lemons and a variety of Ishkari spices. It was served with a small selection of crunchy vegetables, such as carrots and radishes.   Garlic Baguette. This popular snack and side dish consisted of sourdough bread, of which the recipe was imported from Pheloria, and the addition of a garlic paste that was produced locally.   Zartif Confection. Thse small treats consisted of a core of crushed nuts and honey covered in a sugary paste that had different types of flavors infused into it, such as rose, lemon, coconut or just a raw honey version.   Barshnip. These crunchy white plant stalks grew in great numbers in the surrounding region. They were juicy and quite flavorful, especially when given a light roast over open fire. Barshnips could also be used to create syrup from the sweet juices of the plant.   Tiger Roast. This treat had nothing to do with tigers, although the special spice blend used for it gave it its name. A tiger roast consisted of a selection of nuts lightly roasted and spiced to a degree where only the most experienced locals could eat it without a side of milk.   Risz Kebab. Consisting of various types of meat roasted over open fire, the Risz Kebab was a popular fast food on the streets of Zakhiir. The meat could be anything from camel to crocodile, and even drake meat (though whether or not it was actually rat meat was up for discussion). Different types of pastes could be applied to the dish to enhance the flavor.
