The Ishkari Empire

Although most people know what the Ishkari Empire was, few actually know the details of their daily life, and the full extent of their influence in the ancient times. The worship of the The Ishkari Pantheon  dates back to the days of the empire, and many practices of this religion dates back to the empire. As do many of the cultural practices that is still alive in modern times Lymia.    Besides their imperialistic tendencies and aggressive foreign relations, the empire was also known for its magical prowess. At th height of its power, it was rumored that the Ishkari had mastered spellcasting to a degree where they could cheat death, animate inanimate matter, change the weather patterns and morph the world into their own designs. They were masterful crafters of magical artifacts, and many of their secrets of magicrafting were lost to time during the dark ages of the dying empire. Some of the most dangerous magical items were lost to time, or hoarded by influential families and figures that survived the downfall of the empire. Many, many more were lost to the sands or hidden away in dark crypts... at least according to legend!    Today, the Ishkari people in Lymia remember their ancestry with both a bit of pride, a bit of respect, and a bit of caution. For all of the glory of the old empire, it did not stand the test of time, and it caused the wide destruction of previously fertile lands, forever changing the geography of the region.    If anything, the teachings of the old empire have taught the people living in Lymia to respect and treasure nature, to be wary of reckless magical pursuits, and to better ally themselves with their regional neighbors.

Disbandment

The Ishkari Empire fell with the murder of their patron goddess, Ishra. In her death, she cursed the lands, and began the dark age in the region that would eventually cause the most influential cities to break away from the weakened empire and form their own city states.
