Gremlin

Gremlins were goblinoids that were often found in workshops and airship terminals across the Homelands. They could be vicious and reckless creatures, but they were skilled with mechanical operations more than any other race. In addition to this, gremlins inherited the knowledge of their parents, making them excellent craftsmen despite their short lifespan. Gremlins were considered a variant of the goblins that were also commonly found in Lymia, although the two species did not consider themselves close by any means.   While the appearance of Gremlins in history seems to be connected to the advancement of technology, no one knows for certain where they came from, or why they appeared. However, what most can agree on, is that they are unsettling, unnatural and completely unreliable. Working with a gremlin might get the job done, but at what cost? Despite their resemblance to goblins, gremlins are much brighter, hardier and extremely skilled with any tool they find interesting. They often operate in packs but are quick to abandon them when they no longer serve a purpose.   Truly gaining the friendship of a gremlin is rare, and even more so for someone not of their own kin. A gremlin can often be lured by the promise of mischief, the opportunity to work with rare materials, or the possibility of developing something on their own, giving them plenty of reason to seek the company of others when venturing into the world.

Uncanny physiology

Seeing a gremlin for the first time for somebody can be quite a shock at best and a nightmare at worst. With their sickly green and scaly skin, their bulging yellow eyes and their long claw like fingers, they resemble something straight out of a monster manual. Gremlins can move their large bat like ears, and their eyes can move in separate directions, adding to their unsettling appearance.   Finally, gremlins vary greatly in appearance, and they almost take pride in showing off all of the injuries they have acquired. Some gremlins have six fingers and three toes, other have an unnaturally large nose, making it difficult to truly classify them.

Master craftsmen and tinkerers

One trait that all gremlins seem to share is their ability to pick up nearly any tool and use it with great skill. While such an ability could make them extremely valuable assets to any society, instead of constructing new things, they tend to revel in destroying and decomposing things instead. A gremlin often takes great pride in being able to identify and deconstruct interesting constructions they come across, when they are not tinkering with a design instead, often to catastrophic effect.   Despite their destructive behavior, gremlins are actually very intelligent creatures that can easily match the wit and insight of the brightest mages or most enlightened sages, if not their discipline. Gremlins also enjoy riddles and quizzes when they are not perfecting their skills.
