Avariel

Avariel elves were rare in the region of Lymia, and even more rare in other locations in the Homelands. Unlike other elves, they were curious about the other races of the lands, and their culture and history. Of course, the most defining feature of the Avariel were their large, beautiful wings, which resembled those of large eagles. 
The natural curiosity and wanderlust of the Avariel elves had led their people into despair in ages past, where they were sometimes captured and displayed like animals in traveling shows. Those days were long gone, but the Avariel had learned their lesson, and now kept mostly to themselves in their beautiful crystal palaces in desolate mountain ranges. 
Due to the pioneering technology of airships, made possible by the crystals that they were attuned to, the Avariel rejoined the global stage after this period of living mostly in seclusion, and they now found that their ancient wanderlust had taken hold of them once more.
