On a planet covered in salt water, human civilization is just beginning to enter an era of global trade and exploration. Sandwiched between two massive ice caps are thousands of islands resting in clusters. Many of these islands are inhabited by small communities, while some areas have become home to large establishments.   One of these is the Frueja Company, an organization that sprouted from the island of Voronska, the largest island in the Pyra Sea. The Frueja company was founded 119 years ago by the Frueja Family. It started off as a small trading company that serviced the many coastal towns of Voronska. However, about 40 years ago, the entire family vanished from the public view. Around the same time, the Frueja Company exploded in wealth, influence, and power. Pushing further and further north, their influence has allowed them to dominate local governments and act as a global superpower. The areas they occupy typically enjoy prosperity, though beneath the opulent surface, draconian punishments for law-breaking and strange policies abound.   Another power is the fleet of the Pirate King. Rising to power not long after Frueja's rapid growth, this is an organized group of bandits and pirates that terrorize the seas. Surprisingly diverse and accepting, they welcome many into their ranks. At the lowest ranks, there is a great deal of freedom, but higher up it acts as a structured navy. However, despite an obvious conflict, they avoid targeting Frueja ships to prevent open war between the two groups, restricting most of their piracy to unaffiliated towns and ships.   A final thing to note, is that although there are no people that can freely use magic, the world hides many unique items that offer great powers to those who find them. However, many of these items exact a toll on their users. Nobody knows where these things come from, and most don't know they even exist.
