Nyren

Nyren is a tiny planet circling around a dying sun. Most of its lands have turned into deserts and dead, rocky, plains. Life is only there because it formed billions of years ago, in a richer time. Humans are already ancient, civilizations have been around for millions, if not billions of years. But 50 centuries ago The Drought hit Nyren. Because of this only the last 50.000 years have been documented well. Most of this history is encrypted in the library cities on this world, where scholars come together and keep track of history, research it, make discoveries, and ultimately try to map mankinds history before Nyren is nothing more than a boiling rock in space. Many people in this world keep themselves busy with history as a hobby, as a lifestyle, or as a job. Their technology is only late medieval, with muskets and cannons coming around the corner but also swords, shields, bows. A few people practice some magic, although most of it isn't very fit for combat. Most stories of Nyren are translations of the events of the past 50.000 years, told as if you are there, although sometimes stories of scholars making discoveries will be told as well.
