The Elementals

The Elementals retain their shapeless forms from the ancient days, but have mostly gone feral, falling upon the base natures of the elements from which they embody.   For example, most Fire Elementals are highly aggressive, powerful, and tend to aggravate problems into something larger than is is. Water Elementals are highly inconsistent, some days being calm and level-headed and on others stubborn or incapable of rational thought. Air Elementals are unreliable and tend to shift sides on things frequently with no forewarning. Earth Elementals are usually uncompromising, cryptic, and don't speak much, but often keep their word.   The brash and disagreeable qualities of the Elementals have made the other races fearful of them, for who is willing to deal or live with a creature that is so unpredictable? Elementals do not live with the other races, but they dwell in Covens throughout Numinith. These Covens are often far out of the way of Men and Sylvan dwellings.   Elementals can be Feral, in which they succumb to the nature of their embodied element, causing destruction on a whim with little to no control over their actions. These Elementals grow in power with time, building momentum until they are a natural force to be reckoned with.   The Non-Feral Elementals are quiet, secluded, and live their lives far away from the eyes of Men, who seek to simply abuse their forms for energy in their various endeavors to tame the wilds.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Elementals are made of pure energy, magic, and the element in which they embody. They typically assume a somewhat human form, but in actuality, are shapeless, and can move their matter around at will.

Biological Traits

Due to their amorphous bodies, Elementals do not have hit locations, and instead possess a pool of Hit Points and are immune to Serious and Major Wounds.    They also possess Immunity to their embodied element and take twice the damage from magical attacks of their opposing element: (Water vs. Fire, Fire vs. Air, Air vs. Earth, Earth vs. Water)   Engulfing: Elementals may make a melee attack against a target. Must be evaded or damage is rolled to all hit locations. Enemies that are engulfed take damage every turn unless they can escape the Elementals grasp with an opposed Acrobatics, Brawn or Evade vs. the Elemental's Brawn skill.    Elementals may also use their embodied element from their surroundings to attack and move freely through that terrain.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Elementals are found in remote areas surrounded by the element in which they embody (Water Elementals found in or near water, Fire Elementals near volcanoes or sources of heat, etc.).

Average Intelligence

Elementals are of average intelligence compared to Men, but if Feral, they are acting solely on instinct and can no longer make any rational decisions of their own.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elementals share a language among each other known as Terran. It was created by the Earth Elementals long ago, and written into stone slabs found throughout Numinith detailing various events and histories of the past, as the Earth Elementals were the official record keepers during the Era of Harmony and for quite some time into the First Era.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Created by Hekata as a gift to Reylin, the Elementals have an innate connection to Reylin and his teachings as well as to Hekata's gift of Spirituality with Numinith. The Elementals tend to value labor, persistence, and practice Spirit Magic and Shamanism.
