Crystalling

When a monarch is born a power is imbued on them. What power they receive depends on the child's nature and essence but it is for both protection and as identification as a royal heir. This tradition has both good and bad consequences. They gain enormous power that they can use as they please however, this causes the body to become strained at a young age ass their bodies are not mature and strong enough to contain such a large essence. This is another reason monarch are given Gem Soldiers. Once chosen as a Gem they also gain a power and have their souls bonded together. This allows the two entities to share both powers with each other and provides support in maintaining and controlling the powers in both bodies.

Transmission & Vectors

The powers are imbued by royal blood, although even when a child is born into the royal lineage the blood must be supplied with an enormous amount of mana and then reinjected into the babies body to activate their power. it does not have to be much, just a few drops from their parents as a babies blood is not strong enough to activate itself. None royals can gain power by being given mana infused blood from their masters, meaning the only non-royal given a chance to gain powers are Gems.

Symptoms

The overwhelming mana can become painful and dangerous if not given someone to share the pain. A bond of souls allows both parties to evenly distribute the mana allowing them to feel less pain and have easier control of their powers ass well as allowing the subjects to share their powers with their partners.

Cultural Reception

Those with power are naturally looked up to and revered as it means they are either royalty or hold the coveted position of a Gem solider.
