Dionysus

Great Fool Dionysus of The High Twelve (a.k.a. Chaos Incarnate, The Reveler, Father of Pleasure.)

Divine Domains

Revelries and song are Dionysus' domains, as well as chaos, though the more blood thirsty also view him as a god of war--or anarchy, depending on who you ask.

Holy Books & Codes

The Wail of Dionysus, The Book of Gods, The Dilemma of Order and Chaos.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Two different variants of Dionysus' holy sigil exist: a goblet, or a cluster of grapes, representing wine. The more artistic have their own holy symbol, either a lyre--for musicians--or two masks representing comedy and tragedy--for playwrights and actors.

Tenets of Faith

To live a life that brings one the most happiness is the way of a follower of Dionysus, and most followers try to spread that philosophy, as well as teaching one to live a life without too many limitations. Though there are those who use this idea to spread dissent and anarchy, and even one sect of bloodthirsty dionysians worship him by plundering and killing.

Holidays

The second month of the year is devoted to the birth of Dionysus and Aldwin, and on the sixth of the month a special festival is held in Verte-Paysage, full of drinking, singing, dancing... oh, and for the duration of the event there are no laws, except in the case where an individual can be harmed.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To bring chaos through the universe, so that all sentient creatures can live the way they choose to live.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Tall and muscular.

Body Features

Dionysus has horns sprouting from the top of his head, hooves, and goat like ears.

Facial Features

Dionysus has a goat like face, covered in a thick hide of black fur.

Identifying Characteristics

Dionysus' eyes and horns are a dead give away, especially since his horns are patterned after the galaxies and nebulae in the universe.

Physical quirks

Dionysus constantly whistles and sings, and often times he'll dance when the mood sets upon him.

Special abilities

Dionysus is one of the few gods who changes with the beliefs of his followers. Though his personality is still the same, his ability to move others with his lyre sometimes causes others to become violent, and in rare cases they go insane. Worse yet he has little control over how people react to the music, though at random times he does regain control.

Apparel & Accessories

The only clothing Dionysus can boast is a plain toga, and silver bracelets on his horns.

Specialized Equipment

Dionysus is never without his trusty lyre, which he uses to move others to revel and sing.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

The All Mother, Ygdrill, fashioned Dionysus from the fabric of the universe, so that he may bring chaos universe, balancing out the order brought by his brother Aldwin. Though he views his brother favorably, and sees both of their roles as vital, he is constantly at odds with Aldwin. Many times he has undermined Aldwin's warped ideal of order, though many of these had good intentions with unintended consequences--and once or twice his actions were out of spite.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Dionysus is responsible for creating the race of goat men known as dionysians, as well as establishing a "darkness that opposes the day," throughout the universe. Dionysus is also responsible for the idea of pleasure, and thus has given all species on Nosirend a means to satisfy themselves.

Failures & Embarrassments

One notable example of Dionysus having good intentions with unintended consequences is the infamous "corruption of human kind." Dionysus had sent his prophets out into human kind to teach them about the joys of chaos--viewed in terms of hedonism and individuality--and living life as joyously as possible. Humans lived very structured lives at this point, and most of them took the wrong meaning from the prophets teachings, spreading anarchy and dissention, rather than joy and hedonistic living.

Mental Trauma

Dionysus is forever haunted by the consequences of his corruption, as even his own creations live more for plunder and carnage, rather than his ideal life of hedonism. Because of this his brother works tirelessly to put the universe under his thumb, while Dionysus works just as tirelessly to sow chaos throughout, no matter what the consequences may be. Dionysus is proving to be the loser in the fight, as the universe is becoming more ordered, and Dionysus grows weaker.

Intellectual Characteristics

Dionysus isn't very smart as far as gods go, and his planning only goes so far figuring how to receive more pleasure than pain. The only time he shows more aptitude than this, is when trying to minimize the damage done by his actions, though often times it's best if he leaves well enough alone.

Morality & Philosophy

Dionysus believes in living life to the fullest, to avoid all pain and sorrow as much as possible, but if it be unavoidable, to no deny the feelings pain and sorrow bring.

Taboos

Dionysus doesn't have many taboos--unless you count being to orderly as one.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Dionysus just wants everyone to have a good time, though more often than not bad things ensue.

Virtues & Personality perks

Always lighthearted and able to see the positive in things, Dionysus refuses to let his lot in life bring him down, and can start a good party without using his godly powers.

Vices & Personality flaws

Dionysus is willing to see the good in every one, and despite all his blunders in the past, he still tries to bring chaos throughout the universe, believing that living a life one chooses to live to be the path to happiness.

Social

Family Ties

Despite his troubled relationship with Aldwin he attempts to stay on good terms, though oddly enough he has a better relationship with his nephew Porteinous. His relationship with his daughter Redar is a little more complicated, for though they're on good terms, Redar is more wicked and malicious in her ideals of chaos, and her role as the mother of demons is a further point of contention between the two.

Social Aptitude

Dionysus is very outgoing, and constantly smiles around good company

Speech

His voice is deep and booming, and he always seems to be on the verge of laughing.
