Kingdom of Dranall
The Kingdom of Dranall is a land rich with history and culture, it is home to one the Arcane College and has been at the forefront of scholarly magic for decades. It's rolling hills and planes to the south have brought food and drink across the continent. It's northern boarder is shared with the dragon lands, leaving a miles of untamed wilds between, from here a large lumber industry fuels the fires and builds homes.
Structure
The Crown: Ruler by birth or marrage, the king of Dranall handles the kingdom's affairs on a grand scale. He has final say in decisions regarding economy, war and land ownership.
The Arch Duke/Duchess: The Archduke acts as a leader of the the various Dukes and Duchesses. They lead the Duchy Council and act as a mediator between the Crown and the Duchys. They are often the duke of the capital province and spend much of their time working with the Crown in the capital.
Duke/Duchess: The kingdom is split into a group of territories collectively known as The Duchys. Each one is ruled by a Duke or Duchess who is either born or married into the roll. Under the circumstances that a Duchy is with out a ruler (by death with out an heir or removal from power, for example) the King or Queen has the authority to assign the title as they see's fit.
Their primary functions are the management of land, armed forces and law enforcement. These tasks are split to loyal subjects known as Barons.
Baron/Barrenness: The Duchy's are further divided into whats referred collectively as The Barony. Barons come from all tracks of life. Many are veterans who achieved their title from their time in service, some are wealthy merchants who bought their way into The Barony, some are simply people who won the favor of a Duke or Duchess in some way. Regardless, to have the title of Baron you must have one thing: Ownership of Land titled to you by a Duke or Duchess. Being a land owner gives one.
Assets
The corner stone of the kingdom has always been it's fertile farm lands to the south east, often seen as the bread basket of the western continents even those in poverty can find cheap food.
A large timber industry thrives to the north.
Eastern boarders have many small but plentiful fishing communities.
History
At the beginning of the age of fire, Dranall was made up of several dozen small nations and city states. The rise of humanity back into the world lead to many smaller groups trying to grab power in the new world. This ended with King Livous Dranall leading a campaign to unite the splintered groups under his banner.
