The Pureblood Eradication War

In the fall of 1611 a large group of nobility and commoner class vampires rose up against the pureblood and their rule, wanting freedom from their restrictions and the freedom to subjugate humanity. The conflict lasted for 14 years and divided the vampire population in two. Eventually the Pureblood party won the war, but not after massive casualties on both sides and near eradication of the purebloods. After the war the number of purebloods was under one hundred and they have become highly guarded and precious to the vampire nation. The locations of the purebloods are mostly hidden common vampires and still remain the ruling class. The vampire regnant is one of the oldest beings on earth and born of one of the oldest lineages. their strategies were the key to winning the war and put them on the throne.
