Yanglama

The Yanglama are one of the most ancient species by their own tales, and justifiably secretive of their settlements and people. They have faced many enemies and extinction on multiple occasions but have endured. The fish-like Yanglama live in deep sea villages, coming to the surface rarely. They value wisdom and nonviolence but will fight if absolutely necessary. They prefer words overall. They are scholarly with almost perfect memories and live immensely long lives. They are covered in natural armored plates as well as being masterful swimmers which help them in defending themselves through retreat or in shielding. They will sometimes journey to the upper world on missions of learning but don’t often feel comfortable with others not of their kind. They train fabulous wizards who have on occasion aided other magic users in the arcane. These shy, wise people continue deep below the ocean but every once in a while one of their kinsfolk have a huge impact above.
