Nitak Neti

It is said that there are Seven Realms, tied together by time, and given meaning by love. Above is Heaven, Below in Hell. Light and Dark coexisting with one another. Creation and Destruction, existing cyclically. And in the center of these six other realms, lies Nitak Neti, or the Middle Domain, the world where human and beast alike exist, and where humankind seeks to exact its dominion over the world.The links between these worlds allowed for the emergence of the 13 Schools of Magic: Heaven, Hell, Light, Dark, Creation, Destruction / Death, Life, Undeath, Earth, Water / Ice, Air / Storm, Fire and Nature. Magi of each school came to master their arcane arts, bringing tremendous power upon Nituk Neti, and coming to dominate it in the process.   As these Magi came to dominate the world, so divisions began to emerge between them, until soon the Magi of Heavens and Magi of Hell dominated much of the world, fought and despised by Magi and non-Magi alike, and a brutal war of steel and magic swept the land.   In these dark days, a hero emerged. Lucius Ferrum, a Magi of Heavens, mastered all 13 Schools of Magic, and promised to bring a new age of Peace and Prosperity to the realm, assembling a force known as the "Bringers of Glory" to exact his will. Yet in his arrogance Lucius sought to master control over time and love themselves, threatening to bring all 7 realms into chaotic unbalance. Thus and alliance of Magi and non-Magi alike united to defeat him and his forces, subduing him for long enough to lock with body away in a deep crypt, and sealing it with 13 keys, one created from each of the 13 schools of Magic.   Fearing a return to magical domination, or yet another magical war, the non-Magi took advantage of the weakened state of the Magi in the aftermath of the war and slaughtered all those they could find, banishing the rest to the outskirts of society and banning magic. Yet the non-Magi have proved just as divided, squabbling and warring with one another, allowing the isolated Magi to slowly grow in power once again.   It has been about 2585 years since Lucius was bound in his crypt, his power begins to stir again. Led by Lilith Ferrum, daughter of Lucius, the "Bringers of Glory" grow in strength and numbers in the frigid isolated northern island of Malaa. Across the lands, many ambitious Magi and non-Magi rally to their cause. Other Magi and non-Magi stand opposed to them, yet the divisions between them weakens any true possibility of an unshakable alliance. Old animosities between Magi and non-Magi remain, and so long as Magic remains illegal, many Magi view the "Bringers of Glory" as liberators of their kind.
