Amadazevedema

Legend speaks of Amadazevedema, the Living Maze, an ancient and secret labyrinth built by the great Magi of Creation, Daedalus, to hide when the purges against the Magi began. The maze is said to be imbued with powerful magic, its shape constantly changing to make it impossible for any enemies to find Daedalus, even if they found the entrance to the maze. Many have sought out the maze, seeking the treasures that legend says lie within, and some even claim to have found the entrance. But those who make such claims tend to be babbling lunatics, speaking of terrible traps, shifting walls, piles of skeletons and weeks in pure darkness, praying to just find the way out again. It is unclear if these are the results of an actual maze, or simply the mutterings of madmen.

Purpose / Function

Said to be the hideout of Daedalus, an ancient Magi of Creation who fled and went into hiding after the purges against the Magi broke out, building a secret maze that he imbued with Creation magic, ensuring that it would shift and change constantly, making it unassailable to enemies even if they found it.

Entries

It is said there is only one way in and out of the maze, said to be a low, small door carved in the mountain and hidden by more than just magic. The entrance has been described as unremarkable and easy to miss, adding to its hidden quality.

Sensory & Appearance

The tunnels of the maze are said to be dark, with magical gusts of air blowing out torches and leaving those who enter in the pitch black. Those who claim to have entered the maze and escaped alive speak of skeletons littered about in parts of the maze.

Denizens

Daedalus never emerged from the maze again, and so likely died hidden away in its walls. Some claim that he is still alive however, thousands of years old and wandering lost in his own maze. Others claim that when he died, his power infused with the maze, and that he and the maze are now one.   Some claim to have heard something moving about in the maze. Something huge and powerful, but no one who has ever seen what this thing is have ever lived to tell the tale.

Valuables

Legend says that a great treasure is hidden away in the heart of the maze, with the exact nature of this treasure varying based on source. Most claim that it is mounds of gold, others insist the treasure is diamonds, and others that they are magical objects of great power.

Hazards & Traps

Those who claim to have entered the maze and escaped again speak of a variety of traps, such as pressure points activated by stepping on a loose bit of floor, causing blades to cut victims to death. Other times it is said that the very reshaping of the maze itself can be a trap, with the shifting walls crushing unsuspecting victims. It is believed some victims can become trapped in locked hallways, dying from dehydration or from running out of oxygen.

Special Properties

The constantly changing nature of the maze has led to its nickname of "the Living Maze". Those who claim to have entered it and escaped again often speak of it like they would a person, describing it as malicious and sadistic, taking pleasure from tormenting and killing those who enter it. Those who claim to have entered it and escaped sometimes even swear that they can hear the maze laughing at them, or whispering invitingly at them once they finally escape, trying to lure them back in.

Alterations

The maze is constantly shifting and changing, with magical alterations said to be occurring somewhere in the vast maze every second.

Architecture

The maze is said to be carved into a mountain, with the tunnels of the maze eating their way through the rock and the walls and stairs shifting to take empty space as it shifts and moves. Little else if known of the maze, but those who claim to have entered it and escaped again speak of howling winds that blow out torches, and leave them feeling around in the dark, searching for weeks and being lucky to find the way they came in.

History

Amadazevedema was built by Daedalus, an ancient and powerful Magi of Creation, and imbued with magical power. The maze is said to have been built as a hideout after purges against the Magi began. Its location has long since been lost t history, with the only consistency in stories about it that it is build into a mountain. It is said that its entrance is also hidden by powerful magic.
