Floating civizations in Nirando

The world of Nirando it’s mostly covered in water, there are few islands where creatures can inhabit, and even those are not big enough to sustain an ecosystem of big animals. As a result, the intelligent creatures inhabiting this world took another kind of foundation to build their villages, wood. Settlements on Nirando have three main structures Sedentary, Loose Nomads and Coupled Nomads. The Sedentary also known as ports, are in some way or another fixed to some of the ground, it could be a regular village on one of the biggest islands, but it could also be a wood port on a terrain with not so deep water, they can even use overgrown dead coral as pillars and build around it. Loose Nomads also known as travelers, are fast and varied rafts, frigates, etc. Ships that wander on the world and usually when they find one with another they join as a temporary alliance to overcome the merciless ocean, but when the adversity it’s over they part ways to find maybe another group, some entire villages are made by travelers who decided to stay together, in this cases they start to grow a shared culture and traditions, some of this groups have a known schedule and can be easily found. Then the Coupled Nomads also known as floating villages, this are huge structures, engineering masterpieces of wood and rope that are able to sail as one village, this structures try to keep themselves in open waters with all kind of instruments and techniques, travelers usually jump from floating village to floating village before reaching any port. The land is scarce and peaceful, in contrast the water it’s merciless and chaotic, home for all kind of fishes who serve as food to huge creatures that haunt traveler’s dreams, gigantic storms with waves that scare even the bravest, tornadoes and swirls unstopped by the geography can grow to even a mile of diameter and unseen corals and rocks may be the tomb of any naïve ships.
