Scream Sheets: Real Rock Always Fades

By Rock-me Any-time, A Studio-54 Affiliate   "Never fade away."   The words that rockerboy, some say the greatest of all time, Johnny Silverhand left us with before falling into the obscurity of the wastes for two years. Silverhand himself can't seem to live up to the rocker's words, but should he? Should any rocker?   "Take the suits out. Take out the girls, and the eddies, and deals, and the tours. Take it all out would be my choice." The now infamous Eurodyne meltdown went. Kerry on stage for the Mega-Bowl Blitz Halftime show yelled. "Real rock should only ever be played live, and once."   Everyone remembers the Eurodyne Halftime. The greatest show ever performed, and true to his word, he never recorded the music to an album. An album that would have made Eurodyne the undisputed greatest rocker of all time instead of Silverhand.   Before you flip your sheet claiming to yourself that this article is just another Any-time self gratifying whine, think about the difference between these two performers, and the effect they have on the Night City rock scene. In this humble writers opinion, the only scene that really matters.   Silverhand's claim to 'never fade away' is antitehtical to the rocker life of living on the edge, putting the rock first, and feeding off the shouts of the crowd. In order to understand this one only has to go out and listen to the upcoming talent of the NC.   "Fuck em. Every song I write is about almost dying last night!" Clubhand Bang shouted from the stage while the Stifling Nives performed 'Loud Louder Mother Fucking Deaf'.   No better example can be brought forward than that of Gorechylde. "Kerry and Johnny are bonafide legends from their Samurai days. I have it on good authority I was conceived to Never Fade Away, but times have changed." Motormouth yelled over the yelling masses of the Shngri-La dance floor. "If Johnny Sellout still had something worthwile to say, he'd have fuckin' said it already."   Gorechylde, consisting of Ricky Modello and MAXIMUM MIKE show the dichotomy of the rocker life, as Mike left Silver Blaze to perform for the fans again on the streets of Night City as Ricky noted, "The Arasaka's and Biotechnica's of the world can get you on the widebands and the screams for a few months until the next fad takes over, but true immortals built their legacies in the street."   True to his words and to his lifestyle, Ricky Modello was laid out on the 'crete that very night. Never a fan of 'Silverdick' has he referred to him, Ricky's best writing never ended up on a record, but was saved for those special moments for his fans.   Before walking out on the stage, no better words were ever formed that so eloquently tell the life story of a rocker than those spat at full speed by the Motormouth. "Now fuck off. I got a crowd of hopped up Chromers ready to have their fuckin' faces blown off and I intend to do just that."
