Niem

Niem. A world where the forces of nature and ego manifest as living gods treating the people of the land towards countless blessings and riches. Success in this world was once measured only by how much one's patron deity provided for them. This caused ambition to falter and the people to grow lethargic until one nation decided to rise up and conquer the unready lands.   This is known as the War of Ambition, the first conflict of recorded history. During the bloody conflict, the gods themselves were struck down from their pedestals. With the fall of so many divine beings, the land began to lose its fertility. Rain failed to fall from the heavens and food became a luxury resource. The conquering nation began hoarding the land's resources, providing it only for the people who chose to submit to their rule. The dark nation seemed victorious until the last living divines banded together and as one released their fury onto them, vaporizing their armies and bringing the world to the brink of chaos. Two of the gods, Primordium the Steward of Creation and Imperium the Steward of Dominion, their powers exhausted, retreated into the land. They erected the great Zenithra Mountain to act as a well for their recovering powers, where they would slumber for eternity. The two other gods, Spirabilis the Steward of Life and Dilabor the Steward of Renewal, departed from the land to slumber across the Endless Ocean.   With this final cleansing, life was restored in a new land where people would have to provide for themselves without the direct aid of the gods. The struggles were great in the early years, but the slumbering Stewards had given them just enough of what the people would need before they left, and civilization was able to begin anew.
