Background

Mina Lewis was born on the Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota. Life was rough on the reservation, and Mina desperately wanted out. Unfortunately, her parents never really had much interest in leaving.
Eventually, Mina grew up and finally got to leave, where she became an Indian studies professor at Gothamopolis University. Years later, Mina’s mother died and willed Mina her bell necklace. When Mina placed her mother’s bell around her neck, her body began to change. She sprouted horns, and her feet melded into hooves. While this was shocking enough to Mina, the final change was the most shocking. Her long, dark hair turned kinky and began to grow all over her body. When the fur was done growing, Mina realized she looked like a humanoid bison!
A little shocked, Mina took off the bell necklace, and thankfully, changed back. Testing a hypothesis, Mina put the necklace back on, and turned back into her bison form. Realizing she just inherited a superpowered artifact, Mina began a superhero career as the hero Tatanka (it’s Lakota for “bison”).
Mina eventually quit her job to be a hero full time, but a while later, she realized she missed teaching. To remedy this, Mina became INSA’s social studies teacher, where she teaches to this day.

Personality

Mina is a sweet and charming teacher. However, she’s also quite stubborn and isn’t one to back down from anything. She survived her whole childhood on the reservation, so she’s pretty sure she can survive anything.

Powers

When Mina puts her bell necklace on her neck, she turns into a humanoid bison, complete with horns, surprising speed, and insulating fur. She’s also slightly stronger in her bison form.

Appearance

Mina is a 5’7” Lakota woman with long, straight, black hair, brown eyes, and an average build. In her bison form, she’s covered in curly brown fur and has horns and hooves. Her costume is solid brown.
