Cephaline

When Louis Rondo first saw one of these, he thought they looked like a cross between a tufted deer, a kangaroo, and a big cat. They have the head shape and massive fangs of the first creature, enormous tail and feet of the second, and thicker fur and claws of the last.   They look like a member of the Cervidae Family halfway towards a bipedal carnivore evolution. In reality, they are humans warped by the Fold.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Since they live almost entirely within the Fold, reproduction is rarely successful. While inside Fold parallels, eggs tend to die off quickly from an overload of energy. But in the solid realm, the mothers must find the right time to return to a parallel to feed the growing energy demands of the fetus as it develops. Every fetus has a different time-frame, making successful offspring rare. As a trade-off at least, they aren't known to age.

Growth Rate & Stages

Cephalines are full grown by age 10, but don't development speech until their teenage years.

Civilization and Culture

Culture and Cultural Heritage

The species survives socially by appropriation. Every 50 years or so, the community of cephalines "sheds their past," and adopts the latest customs from those that live entirely in the parallels. In the 2020s, they've hit the reset again, and have adopted far more culture from the solid realm in the age of communication.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

They are only Fold species that has attempted internet communication withing the Fold parallels. They successfully created a signal that can move between the parallels in the region. However, due to their anatomy, they can't operate modern touchscreens. So they rely on laptops and outdated smartphones for internet communication. The end result is that they almost exclusively run the Fold internet and its services, giving them their only leg up in society.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They enjoy the company of other intelligent species, particularly humans, but are well aware of their bestial forms. They prefer to linger near groups of other species, rather than being in the middle. That gives them a reputation for clinging to walls and corners, as that's where you look at a social gathering when you want to find a cephaline.   There worst relation is with the Tuskers, who believe in covering their bestial aspects when out in public. Cephaline typically follow modern clothing trends from the solid realm and the Fold, leaving lots of exposed skin, offending the conservative tuskers. Showing off your oversized teeth is just bad for business.
