Early this morning, a group of mystery assailants arrived at First District's Central Cathedral amid the Tithe Day's crowd and planted multiple explosives at critical structural points. The majority of the Cathedral's security guards and several members of Cathedral staff were slain, including His Holiness, the Gilded Hierophant Michael vonArran.
As the Lady herself stood in holy opposition to the terrorists, she herself was shot down. The Sentinels' emergency medics pronounced her dead at the scene at 11:15 AM.
At this time, the terrorists are still at large. Eyewitnesses report seeing a fifteen-foot direlizard, an androgynous person dressed in the garb of a ZEC inventor, a robotic creature about the size of a goblinball, and two identical
red-haired wood-elf women in the group. The Church and the Sentinels have a one thousand gold reward to anyone with information on these people and their plots, and are offering 1.4 million gold per head, dead or alive, to any bounty hunter willing to pursue these highly dangerous criminals.
Due to her sacrifice, the majority of the congregation was able to escape to safety before the sanctuary collapsed. Early reports have counted 22 dead, four of which are congregation members. Out of the 86 people injured, two are in critical condition and have been transported to the Verity Island Emergency Hospital. With the annual Tithe Day congregation numbers averaging in the thousands of people, and this year shaping up to be the largest attendance this century, these early numbers are hopeful.
Emergency services are still clearing and searching the rubble. Please contact the Church's Emergency Response Team if you know of an individual at the scene not yet found. Due to severe structural damage to the Cathedral, it will be closed to pilgrims, tourists, and worshippers until further notice. Please do not interfere with operations at the site.
Opulent Vicar Darius Ryker, the former Hierophant's aide, promises to release a statement with further information as soon as possible, including a scheduled time and location for a public mourning service.
