History

Vulcana is a historic city situated along the coast of the Iron Bay, originally discovered 12 ABF by Cordovan pirates. The bay's strategic location was reported back to their leader, Alicia Cordova, who promptly dispatched a group of colonists to settle the area. This settlement was officially named New Cordova, laying the foundations for what would later become the industrial powerhouse of Vulcana.

By 50 ABF, the town had flourished, growing into a thriving community of over 15,000 residents. Its strategic location and abundant resources fueled its rapid development.

In 112 ABF, New Cordova was elevated to the status of capital of the Kingdom of New Cordova, and construction began on its first government palace, an imposing structure crafted from stone, bricks, and terracotta. This was a stark contrast to the predominantly wooden houses that defined the city at the time. To honor the city's founder, a towering copper statue, known as the Colossus of Liberty, was erected, symbolizing freedom and prosperity.

The city’s fortunes took a devastating turn during the Second Cordova-Edenian War (127–134 ABF). New Cordova was razed by Edenian forces in an event forever remembered as the New Cordovan Fire. The catastrophic blaze left the city in ruins, with the Government Palace being the sole surviving structure due to its resilient materials.

Reconstruction efforts began in 136 ABF, marking a pivotal moment in the city’s history. Inspired by the durability of the Government Palace, the rebuilt city adopted an architectural style characterized by brick and terracotta, which became a defining feature of Vulcana’s aesthetic. During this period, the city was officially renamed Vulcana, symbolizing its rebirth from the ashes. It was also designated as the Eden Kingdom's Industrial District, taking on the crucial role of manufacturing hub for the kingdom.

Vulcana's industrial prominence continued to grow, and with the establishment of the Concordia Empire, the city entered a golden age of innovation and prosperity. The empire’s emphasis on modernization led to the industrialization of Vulcana’s manufacturing processes, further solidifying its status as a global leader in industry and production.

Today, Vulcana stands as a testament to resilience and transformation, its history intertwined with the rise and fall of empires and its legacy as the heart of industrial progress in its world.
