King Ashmodai
King Ashmodai Signum is the ruler of Intol and comes from a long line of royal family. The Kingdom of Zaun has been passed down from ruler to heir for the past several centuries. Though the Kingdom has a preference for male rulers, if the family is not given a male child, it is passed down to the female child. The structure of heirs is based on the eldest of the family and goes down from there, of course, if the eldest child is a female and the 2nd child is a male then the male child becomes the ruler when the king passes away or steps down from rule. This has caused great strife in family's in the past and though it hasn't ever been fully confirmed there are instances in history where it is believed that heirs have murdered their fellow siblings to gain the throne when that time should arise.
Intol has always been a place of cultural suppression, with each ruler of the Signum line ensuring that the human race is considered to be the master class of the city. Humans have always been given favor by the King and his court and before the Titan Wars was 100% held by humans with other classes not allowed any form or representation. Additional the royal line has been kept "pure" by each ruler only being allowed to marry another human. This of course has lead for many other Kingdoms to look poorly upon Zaun and has made Zaun the enemy throughout the realm of Nemosyne.
Because of this ruling structure, years before the Titan Wars, Zaun was on edge of war with a neighboring kingdom across the water to the west, Orathoka. The kingdom of Orcs were growing weary and tired of the King Ashmodai's tyrannical treatment of other races within the borders of Zaun and thought they could be the catalyst needed by the realm to crush Zaun and hopefully restore equality to all. Zaun, fearful to go to war and the potential for an uprising within it's borders forcing a fight on two fronts, decided to extend a political arm. King Ashmodai offered his hand to the Queen of Orathoka - Grimga. Unwary of this alliance at first Orathoka was unwilling to accept this offer, however, if their goal was to gain equality within Zaun what better way to do so than allying Orcs and Humans alike. Grimga accepted and she and King Ashmodai wed. In their marriage, they had a daughter Alexandrine and to the public's eye it appeared Grimga started to soften the heart of the King towards other races. Unfortunately, Grimga was taken during the 4th titan raid and in his grief the King went back to his old ways.
It was a calm, ordinary day when the King was out within the city near the walls, conversing and visiting with the public. Without warning, the first of the titan raids began and in the chaos and havoc the King was knocked prone. Vamir, an elf of noble lineage saw what had occurred to the King and rushed to his aid. Being well skilled in magic, Vamir lifted the King from the ground and used magic to cloak himself and the King. Once it was safe, Vamir lead the King back to the palace, where the King spoke of how he had been saved by Vamir and if it were not for this elf he surely would have perished in the titan raid.
