The Men of Captain Nolvandr (ðə mɛn ˈʌv ˈkæptən nol-van-der)

On the high seas, when one saw a banner of a bearded man with horns, one's first instinct would be to sail as faraway as possible. Especially needed of vessels sent by any massive government, getting in the way of these ships meant certain death and destruction. As one lays dying after such an invasion, the loud cheering and laughter of these people was heard. It was as if the idea of death amused them, not terrorized them. They dared not mourn even their fallen comrades, instead drinking the night away and acting as if nothing happened at all tomorrow.

Structure

How pirates are usually organized, Captain Nolvandr's men are similar. Of course, one has the captain, but there was also the Quartermaster Ara himself.

Culture

The culture comes from the late Emperor Ignis' way of ruling over Riavelon, that being the strong reign over the weak. However, they seem to have twisted it beyond its original implications, for they use it to justify committing atrocities in the name of superiority. They pillage villages in the Lithi Islands with some settlements in the south of the Riavelon League being victims of their terror as well.

Public Agenda

Captain Nolvandr's men, when first formed, hinged from the captain's desire for wealth and to tear down organization. From how the people of the former Riavelon League were subjugated, the captain was disgusted by this, horrified at how mortals had since become a shell of their former selves. Because of this, he escaped its lands on a boat he stole from the empire alongside others who shared his beliefs. This wish for power in a world where it had ripped it away from most resonated with the hearts of many, and to want to return to how things once were was also strong. To embody the spirit of the Riavelon Empire under Emperor Ignis' reign was what most wanted, even despite its questionable consequences.

Assets

These pirates have several ships under their name, stolen from the late Emperor Fraenir's empire. They also have amassed hundreds of weapons, with some claiming the origin of guns come from Captain Nolvandr. Owning several buildings in Akkad Island due to their allyship with its governor, Emani, they store much of their weapons and rum in them.

Disbandment

During bloody fighting matches in Akkad Island's coliseum ring, the Dusk Crusaders eventually knocked out enough opponents to come face-to-face with Quartermaster Ara, now leading Captain Nolvandr's men. Advike, the daughter of the captain, came out into the ring and faced him in battle. The two exchanged nasty words to one another, Ara viewing Advike a traitor and coward while the latter viewed him as a menace to society. As she got one blow in on him, the man quickly wiped the floor with her. Philotes, disgusted by the display, enters the ring themself to take him out. The two fight it out brutally, but eventually, Philotes takes the lead and kills him. The resulting aftermath led to Captain Nolvandr's pirates being segmented and disorganized, and eventually, they would spread out into smaller groups ripped of their former glory.
DISBANDED/DISSOLVED

In Death Comes Joy

At least several years after the formation of the Riavelon Empire under Emperor Fraenir's name - After the death of Ara, Captain Nolvandr's crewmate, at the hands of Philotes, the pirates struggled to find a successor and eventually died out. Now divided, they now terrorize civilizations in a divided and less organized fashion.
