Aebananfil

In early spring of the Aeban steppe, a small white flower blooms. The flower itself is beautiful, but holds little significance. Instead, the root of this plant, known as the aebananfil, is the important part.   Translated from the Tulach language, the name is "desert root."

Properties

Material Characteristics

A cluster of small flowers, each bloom with 5 petals growing on a starburst of pink-purple stems. Leaves are slightly prickly but soft in texture, aside from the points. The root itself is a hard clump which grows much larger than the surface plant.

Compounds

Most commonly used as part of a vitality potion, which is used by the Tulach people.

Geology & Geography

Grows in the southern regions of the Aeban desert, where rock and sand starts to give way to grasslands.

History & Usage

Cultural Significance and Usage

For at least a thousand years, the Tulach people have used the processed and dried root in vitality potions which are used in ritual mating ceremonies.

Refinement

The root is the most useful part of the plant, and needs to be boiled until soft, and then the outer shell of it can be peeled so that the interior is able to be ground into a powder.

Distribution

Trade & Market

It is not in high demand outside of the desert lands aside from those of Tulach descent, but is often traded at markets on the edges of the desert, either at Fairsing to the north or Ionad to the south. As it requires specific growing environments, it isn't seen outside of these regions often.

Storage

Maintains its magical properties as long as it is not frozen
