Mansterr

Mansterr is as unfriendly as Andelros is beautiful. It has a very small population, of incredibly hardy people, spread across difficult terrain with few roads. It has a troubled and largely secretive past, marked by a recent orc invasion. Often at gatherings lords of other townships whisper about the rules it flouts.

There is a legend about Mansterr, that it is cursed. According to the inhabitants of Denburrsa of Andleros, every year on the last night of novsavan otherworldly beasts emerge from the depths of it's valleys to collect the souls of the living and drag them away. Whilst the actual number of deaths to this are unreported, a traveller's body has been recovered from the township covered in unidentifiable gouges.

Demographics

Mansterr outlawed orcs 12 years ago, but has relatively high populations of unusual races; as a place that encourages divergence from the norm of Tariksan it has become a welcome place for several. Worship of the daybreakers is non-existant, although not outlawed.

Government

Mansterr's Lord is a young gnomish witch by the name of Voulesh Jasobite. She has a very willing militia, as she pays well for the little work they do, and keeps her law through a brutal combination of fear and respect. It is rumoured that Jasobite is a sorcerer.

Defences

Mansterr is notoriously badly defended, as most of it's dwellers believe they are hidden from any invaders. 12 years ago, a tribe of orcs staged an attack on Tariksan through Mansterr, aided by a fiend. They were fought back with heavy losses to the national guard, and a garrison of national guard is still stationed in Mansterr.

The militia is a questionable organisation, with apparently no training, and consists of the most influential of the township's inhabitants. In the past questions have been raised about the legality of this system, but they seem able to keep physical threats at bay.

Guilds and Factions

"The dripping gourd" - an organisation of many of Mansterr's 'witches' which organises trade out of the township.

Architecture

Apart from Mansterr's central town, and the national guard garrison, the population lives between the trees, in wooden houses similar to those in Andleros. They frequently allow moss to grow over these houses.

Geography

Thick, damp forest covers most of Mansterr, with small, moss-hung trees and rocky ground. Like andleros, it is limestone terrain, but the thicker woods and tiny, cramped valleys give it a slighly sickening feel. These valleys criss-cross most of the township, and are known as Mansterr's scars, for the way they look unnaturally gouged out of the earth. The inhabitants of Mansterr often find their strange land beautiful, and struggle to live anywhere else.

Natural Resources

Mansterr grows many herbs and mushrooms for apothocaries in astora and beyond. There are few places with quite the same uncultivated terrain as Mansterr, and it is the main producer of a select few fungi. This resource lends itself to a secondary product: a variety of potions, salves and drugs, made by the local "witches".
