Tiefling

Tiefling are a planetouched race influenced by the malevolance of The Gloom World and its devils and demons. Tieflings face adversity in the world of mortals due to their spiritual ancestry and their ties to the world of devils and demons.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Tieflings as a planetouched race, are mutated variants of other races. These mutations come from the wellspring of infernal magic within them, typically giving them brightly coloured red skin along with horns and often hooves. Tieflings can also sometimes be magenta, orange, blue, or in particularly rare cases even purple. It is commonly believed that purple tieflings are heralds of great catastrophy and strife, the ones who will either cause it, or avert it bringing it to a close.

Genetics and Reproduction

Tieflings spring into being through the influence of The Gloom World onto mortals. Children born near areas scarred by The Gloom World often come out as tieflings. A person can be transformed into a tiefling through a devil deal, and their future descendants can randomly inherit the infernal energy causing them to be born as such as well. The larger the deal, the more likely tieflings are to be born. Tieflings can also simply be born through natural reproduction if one more parents is a tiefling.

Most tieflings are born with the knowledge locked into their minds of how to speak the language of devils and demons, inferal.

History

Tieflings were incredibly rare before the planaclysm, but since have become increasingly common. Most of the first tieflings were hunted down and killed due to their demonic resemblences and percieved malintent. But overtime post planaclysm Vortil has accepted tieflings. In some parts they still face adversity, but Vortil is full of many strange folk, of which the tieflings are nowhere near the strangest.
In Faiftexl however, tieflings are often executed upon birth like most of the planetouched races. They are seen as demonic abominations sent to corrupt the hearts of the people or to kill and pillage from within. Most often they're burned, which is particularly cruel due to it taking much longer to burn someone resistant to flame. Opinion of tieflings dropped drasticly during the time of The Eternal Sinner due to mass death caused by his battles with the devil Kowathlich.
