Price to Pay

The Colth Revolution is one of the newest social uprisings in Myrmier, and this preserved tax log represents the core of the revolution's beginning. Back during the heat of Giff rule in Paladream, there was a colony of humans who lived up by Lake Bounty. Lake Bounty's abundant resources led to the exploitation of labor in the colony. All of the fish and money brought in by the residents was taxed back to the motherland at an extremely steep rate. This log shows the peak of the taxes reaching an immense 88% rate. Many families in the colony began to face starvation as all of their earnings were yanked away before their eyes. Hollowed cheeks and exposed ribs lined the skin of children, and large households were forced to ration out to the thinnest of margins. People simply didn't have the resources to survive. They had no choice but to rebel.

Sickening Grip

Even with outrageous taxes, colonists were still kept under the palm of Giff tyranny through a Popscotch addiction. Giff royalty intentionally suppressed rebellion in modern day Colth by threatening to cut off a supply of Omniquill lashes used to make the scotch. Because of this it took extremely long for the colonists to gather the courage to break away from the mother empire. Eventually, the people rebelled, and faced the consequences. Withdrawal symptoms set in almost immediately. The stockpile of scotch was drained dry in a matter of days. People turned over every barrel, every fishnet, to find a drop of Popscotch. The casualties of the Colth Revolution were massive, largely from the fact that many of the soldiers on the line would do anything to take back their Popscotch and become independent.
